Grand Hyatt Denver – Colorado

Great views, located well, the Hyatt is indeed a “Grand” place to stay in Denver

From the minute you walk into the lobby and see the burning fireplace in the lobby lounge, Grand Hyatt Denver promises to offer a nice experience. The hotel offers plenty of rooms with nice views of the city. It is centrally located and you are within walking distance of many of Downtown Denver’s attractions. The rooms are comfortable and the decor is sleek and updated.

Location:

The Hyatt is ideally located near the 16th street mall. You can easily walk to the mall area with all the stores and restaurants. We were able to walk to the Denver Art Museum as well. The free mall bus is located at a nearby corner so that you can access the entire Downtown Denver area.

Rooms:

The rooms are of a contemporary design with warm woods and colors. The windows are large and offer good views of the city. The higher floors offer better views. I personally enjoy our room’s view of the Union Station side of the building. We opted for a corner king which is roomier than the standard rooms. The room is spacious and has a nice small round couch and more working space as well.

Bathroom:

The bathroom is modern design as well. The sink area has a nice counter space. Our room was a shower only. The bathroom size was standard.

Linens:

The linens and towels were nice, although not plush. Robes were provided.

Staff:

The check-in staff could use improvement. A young woman checked us in and was quite abrupt. We are Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond members and I think she misunderstood that we were trying to ask for an upgrade. She was insistent that we had booked a King Standard Room and that the hotel was sold out and they did not have a Corner King Room. We were having a hard time locating our reservation confirmation, so we initially decided to not argue with her regarding the room. After we found our reservation, it was clear that we had paid for the Corner King Room. She did not handle the situation well. We ended up asking to deal with another employee who was polite, but still seemed to not be very friendly. Maybe they were having a bad day? In the end, we received the Corner King Room that we reserved and paid for. Also, from that point on, we encountered staff members that were all quite nice.

Views:

The city views from the room were gratifying. An Always 5 Star tip is when reserving your room, request a room on a higher floor for the best views of the city.

Final Thoughts:

The Grand Hyatt Denver is a quality hotel. We had the opportunity with our Diamond membership to have access to the Regency Club lounge. The lounge is a wonderful plus to this property. Well managed and the appetizers and desserts in the evening were excellent. The rooms were pleasant with the contemporary design, cleanliness, and windows that highlight the city views. The lobby and the “Fireside” Lounge added a wonderful atmosphere to the hotel. Our overall stay was “Grand” with the exception of the unfriendly staff when we first checked in. However, we found other staff members to be quite friendly, and we were able to overlook the rough start and ended up enjoying our stay here.

5StarTip 🌟: Book a corner suite room, the room is more spacious than the standard king room. Also, visit the Fireside lounge bar at Happy Hour to enjoy the contemporary designed fireplace and decor located in the lobby area.
