Lone Eagle Grille Restaurant At The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe

I made reservations here for a party of four to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We have had drinks here several times over the years when staying at the Hyatt Regency. The views are so beautiful that I specifically wanted to have a dinner celebration with a window table that overlooked the lake. I made reservations well in advance and spoke with the concierge at the hotel, as well, to insure that the evening would be great. We were told that the only way to guarantee a window table was to arrive when the restaurant opened. We did and we received a window table (see more info about this below). The views were what we hoped for. That was the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, the food and service were lacking. It was average… it just wasn’t great.

Location:

The location and proximity to the lake could not be better. The views from the restaurant are truly special. The restaurant is located on the Hyatt Regency property and is directly on the beach.

Décor:

The décor is typical of the Lake Tahoe mountain area. Western with warm tones. There is a nice fireplace in the restaurant and the window’s capture the landscape well. Tables are situated on the window to optimize the views. The high vaulted ceiling really opens up the room. There are also table scattered throughout the restaurant.

Menu:

The menu is typical American Steak/Fish restaurant fare. There are some pasta entrees as well. The food was uninspired and between the four of us, nothing really stood out. Our dinner companions said it best when they described it as being bland.

Service:

The service was spotty at best. Though we were told that the restaurant would be very busy, it wasn’t. In fact, there was hardly anyone there. This proved to be frustrating for several reasons. We were told that we would not be able to get a window seat if we booked reservations at a more desirable later time (this proved to be false). The waitress had to be found several times to ask about waters and refills for our drinks. Our dinner proved to be quite expensive, so the lack of attentiveness and service was surprising and disappointing for the price point.

Restrooms:

The restrooms are located upstairs at the entry (the restaurant is downstairs to the right). They are well maintained and clean.

Final Thoughts:

After having high hopes for a nice evening celebrating a birthday, it turned out to be disappointment. The views are beautiful and the interior is welcoming. However, the food and service were a negative. The prices of the dinners are such that they will need to upgrade their menu offerings and service in order to satisfy their customers.

5StarTip: I would recommend going to the bar (as it has the same views) and ordering a less expensive meal and same wine/beer/cocktail menu as the restaurant. Also, the bar area has a wonderful outdoor area with seating and a fire pit that is quite nice.

Lone Eagle Grille rates an #Always5Star: 🌟🌟🌟
