Marlowe’s Restaurant in Denver, Colorado

We happened on Marlowe’s while shopping at Denver Pavilions Shopping Center. The outdoor openness looked inviting and, after a quick peek at the menu, we decided to give it a try. There were several pluses to our experience: the drinks, atmosphere, and service were all wonderful. However, there was unfortunately one downside, the food. The items we ordered were not prepared well. Having said this, Marlowe’s does offer an energetic place with outdoor seating, well located, and good drinks. Possible solution: Happy Hour.

Location:

Marlowe’s is located at the corner of 16th and Glenarm next door to the Paramount Theatre. It is situated on the outside of the Denver Pavilions shopping center which has movie theaters and plenty of shopping options.

Décor:

Housed on the bottom floor in the historic Kittredge Building, the bar area is made of cherry woods, warm tones and vaulted ceilings. The interior is respectful of the history of the building. The indoor/outdoor dining is a plus and the space is well portioned so that you do not feel crowded in. A large awning shades the patio area from the sun.

Menu:

The menu offers standard American fare. I did not notice any innovative or unique dishes. We ordered the wedge salad and Wagyu Sirloin 8 oz., w/spinach, and potatoes. We added a side of sautéed mushrooms as well. The wedge salad was fresh, however the blue cheese dressing was average and the portions of bacon and blue cheese crumbles could have been better. The sirloin was overdone and tough to chew. The spinach and mushrooms were uninteresting. The potato wedges were the best selection on the plate.

Service:

The service was great. Our server was Michelle and she was attentive and sweet. The restaurant was busy and she was very good about maintaining a presence at all her tables.

Restrooms:

The restrooms are located downstairs. The restrooms were spacious and well maintained/clean.

Final Thoughts:

Marlowe’s initially seemed like a place that we would enjoy. The atmosphere, location, and the service were very good. However, it is hard to recommend a restaurant when the food was so disappointing. But, if you are wanting a place to enjoy Happy Hour, this would be a good option.

5StarTip: If you are looking for a place to relax and have some drinks, I would recommend you come here for Happy Hour.

Marlowe’s rates an Always5Star rating: 🌟🌟🌟
