As you enter the lobby you are met with a delightful scent that floats lightly throughout the hotel. You realize that the scent reminds you of something and then you can recognize what it is. The aroma is evocative of Paris! How fitting, as the hotel emphasis and décor are influenced by French culture. The upscale chic décor pays homage to a favorite Washington DC icon, Jackie Onassis. Her distinctive style and French characteristics are realized as you spend time in this luxury hotel. Her inclinations toward certain palates of color are evident. The elegant jade couch in the lobby invites you to sit and relax. The guest rooms showcase combinations of reds, blacks, and pops of sapphire blues.
As Washington DC has a historic French connection, the hotel sets out to embrace this history. Upon your check-in, you might just be inclined to say “Bonjour”! In my case, I exclaimed “Oh la la”!

The Sofitel is at the corner of Lafayette Square. A wonderful location and within walking distance to everything DC, including the White House, the National Mall, museums and a variety of shopping.
The hotel is a short distance from DCA Ronald Reagan airport. It is about a 13-minute drive depending on traffic from the airport.

Final Thoughts:
The Sofitel offers a sophisticated contemporary stylishness that sets it apart from the other hotels. As I entered the hotel, I enjoyed the more intimate, personal feel of the hotel. At the same time, I could see that it would appeal to not only a younger customer but also to the mature customer as well. The hotel is one to definitely consider when looking to stay in Washington DC.
