Always5Star Guide To Doffo Winery in Temecula

Doffo Winery

The minute you walk up to the Doffo Winery, you know you are going to have an enjoyable and fantastic wine tasting experience. All the wineries in the Temecula Valley offer beautiful vineyards and wonderful inviting tasting rooms. Doffo Winery provides a singular experience that I am sure you will enjoy! I immediately felt this when I had my first tasting and realized that my wine was being poured by Damian Doffo, the owner Marcelo’s son. Damian is the General Manager and winemaker at Doffo wines. His passion and enthusiasm for his wines are contagious! During my wine tasting, he shared fabulous and colorful stories about his father and his love for his family, and their dedication to winemaking.

The following are my Always5Star tips that I hope you will find very helpful when visiting the Doffo Winery.

🌟 Mistura was Marcelo’s first wine

Damian’s father, Marcelo, with Italian and Argentinian roots, immigrated to the United States where his own wine journey began. After experiencing his great uncle’s old-fashioned way of making wine, Marcelo followed in his footsteps and started making wine in his basement. This led to the planting of more vines and the start of a long and prosperous wine making journey.

Four years after planting his first Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc grape vines, Marcelo created his first wine and named it Mistura. The irrigation systems and trellis for these vines were installed by hand himself as the land he bought was completely bare. Marcelo’s attention to detail and belief in the daily care of the vines led to the development of some spectacular grapes.

🌟 Winemaking staying in the family

Damian Doffo has more than filled his father’s big shoes as the winemaker of the winery. He grew up helping in the cellars and throughout the years, Marcelo passed on all his knowledge to Damian. Marcelo’s daughters, Samantha and Brigitte, also work in the industry. They excel at running the tasting room and doing events at the winery. There is no doubt that his three children will carry the winery forward and ensure great success into the future.

Damian shared his passion and vison during my visit. All three children are adding their personal touches and creative, artistic talents to the wines, including the unique bottle design that make their wines stand out (as seen in the picture below).

🌟 Wine isn’t the family’s only passion

The family has an incredible love for motorcycles. They have collected almost 200! When Marcelo first moved to the US, his love for motorcycles lead him and his brother to open an auto body shop. They began restoring old motorcycles and display them proudly at the winery. The family even created 3 red blends to celebrate their love for motorcycles.

🌟 The family is deeply involved in charity

Through their love for motorcycles, the Doffo family is part of the Kurt Caselli foundation and has hosted a fundraising event at the winery. The foundation raises funds for the safety of riders and racers in the off-road motorcycling industry. The family helped make the event a great success as over $50,000 was raised!

🌟 What to expect when you’re there

The Doffo Winery offers you a great variety of tastings as well as different tours. There is a walking tour available for guests between the vines, or a golf cart ride of the property. This family is extremely close-knit, and you can expect their best when visiting. They infuse a personal experience and you instantly feel embraced as a friend of the family!

The tasting room is open seven days a week.
