(1) 🌟 The Lobby
Simply said, the lobby embodies old world elegance. In a world of changing styles leaning toward modern, eclectic, and contemporary sleek lines, I embrace the St. Regis as it honors its old-world history. I love the grandeur of the plush sofa and chairs with their Neo-Renaissance style French décor influence.
The minute you walk into the lobby you feel embraced by the elegant colors, the crystal chandeliers, and the feeling that you have been transported back in time. The lobby’s warmth invites you to linger and relax into the soft couches. I found myself wanting to sit in the lobby by a window and just reflect and people watch. This is not typically something I do, so it was with this recognition that I realized this was something really special.
(2) 🌟 The Accommodations
It is rare that I get excited about a standard room (I save my enthusiasm for those wonderful suites). But I must admit that our room surprised me. My hubby was staying at the hotel for a conference, and we were paying the conference rate. Usually, this is just a standard room. However, this hotel’s rooms cannot be labeled “standard conference rooms.” Our stay was in a “Grand Luxe, Larger Guest room, 1 King, Sofa bed.” I believe this is where a luxury hotel defines itself.

(3) 🌟 Afternoon Tea
I had the fantastic opportunity on this trip to enjoy their afternoon tea. I love afternoon tea, and the St. Regis has one that is singular and very special. I would highly recommend that you reserve time for this wonderful experience!
The afternoon tea is served in their gorgeous lobby. First, the ambiance of the lobby is such that you already have the perfect setting for enjoyment. Second, the teas and plates are so wonderful that you will be raving about this to all your friends.

Third, but very important, they have several bubbly delights including one of my favorite champagnes, Veuve Cliquot. Now, what is better than spending an afternoon enjoying a fabulous setting, tea, treats, and champagne? To me, this is a perfect Washington DC afternoon respite!

(4) 🌟 The Bar, Restaurant & Nightly Saber Ceremony
The Bar is wonderfully warm and inviting. It was a favorite place to end the evening for all of my husband’s fellow conference attendees. Most nights we scoped out the chairs by the fire and enjoyed an after-dinner aperitif with wonderful conversations.
The Alhambra Restaurant:
I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the restaurant. The restaurant offers modern Mediterranean influenced cuisine. The decor is more contemporary than the lobby but still exudes that opulent feel.

Evening Sabering
Every night at 6 p.m. in the lobby, the St. Regis offers a spectacular ceremony that is complimentary. It is a demonstration of Champagne Sabering. Not only do you get to witness the saber opening of the champagne bottle, but you are able to enjoy a glass for celebrating your stay at this exceptional property. I actually was able to see this performed a few times during our 4-night stay and each night was great. I would highly suggest that you witness this event whether you are staying there or at a nearby hotel.
5StarTip🌟: Arrive about 10 minutes before 6 so that you can position yourself for those great videos and pics!

(5) 🌟 Concierge
This is where the St. Regis really shined for me and showed me what a five-star hotel is all about. I traveled with a friend who was unable to book at the St. Regis because they were sold out for the conference. She broke a heel on her expensive boots and wanted to find a cobbler. She and I went to the concierge and requested assistance. Not only did they help her find someone, but they volunteered to take her boots to the shop, and then picked them up and brought them back to the hotel. Both of us were really impressed by this level of service, and the team was incredibly gracious as well. There were several employees involved with this transaction, and thus I say a big “Standing Ovation” to the Concierge Team at the St. Regis!

Final Thoughts:
I truly enjoyed my stay at this luxury hotel. It seemed to embody Washington DC, the history, and its culture. Every employee I encountered was friendly and bent over backward to be helpful. I felt truly spoiled and pampered and would recommend adding this hotel to your list of those to enjoy when visiting Washington DC! And know that when you stay here, you have a high probability of seeing a dignitary. I know I did…but
